Intense Pulsed Light

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL):
Facial Rejuvenation

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment works like laser treatment in that both options use light energy to produce the changes that are desired. IPL treatment is different from laser treatment, however, in that it is typically less aggressive and thus gentler to the skin. IPL can provide facial rejuvenation with very little risk or down time. Our patients typically undergo a series of three to six IPL treatments spaced about three to six weeks apart for maximum benefit.

Facial rejuvenation with IPL is easily performed in our Baltimore, Maryland area office without the need for any type of sedation, though a topical cream can be applied beforehand to provide more comfort if desired. After the IPL treatment, the skin appears slightly darker and then peels about five days later, leaving your skin smoother in texture and more even in color.* You can return to full activity the day after facial rejuvenation with IPL is performed, and you may wear make-up immediately.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment that can help you achieve healthy, glowing skin.

Facial rejuvenation with IPL

  • Facial discoloration – sun spots, freckles, uneven skin tones
  • Melasma
  • Facial telangectasia – “broken capillaries,” red spots
  • Rosacea
  • on damaged skin of the chest, arms, legs, and hands

Other Uses of IPL

In addition to facial rejuvenation treatments at our Baltimore, Maryland area center, IPL may also be used to gently and effectively remove hair from the face, legs, back, arms, bikini line, and other areas. As with other hair reduction methods, patients may require several IPL treatments to achieve maximum results due to the cyclical nature of hair growth.
