What is a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is an office treatment during which your provider uses a carefully selected soft tissue filler to improve the shape and contours of your nose. This procedure, also called liquid rhinoplasty or a non-surgical nose job, is a convenient, cost-effective solution to surgery. It may be ideal for you if you're frightened of undergoing a surgical procedure on your nose or if you want to test the waters, so to speak, and get a glimpse of what your nose might look like if you were to schedule rhinoplasty surgery in the future.
The non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure can achieve a satisfying before and after result. It is performed to improve the symmetry of the nose, reduce a nasal bump, give the appearance of straightness to a crooked nose, enhance a pinched or drooping nasal tip, or correct a low nasal bridge. Ultimately, with the careful insertion of dermal filler to appropriate areas of the nose, non-surgical rhinoplasty can bring more overall harmony to your face.
Treatment begins with the application of a topical numbing cream. Once your tissue is less sensitive, your provider will administer the filler into all areas of and around the nose where appropriate to enhance contours and size. The entire procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes. With the use of the topical numbing medication and the analgesic that is within the dermal filler, your nonsurgical nose job should be easily tolerated with just a bit of pressure, and no pain.
How Long Does Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Last?
A surgical nose job requires a few weeks of downtime and the very careful avoidance of touching or bumping the nose to get long-lasting results. Your non-surgical nose job won't require much downtime, if any, and causes very few side effects, if any. Furthermore, you'll see the effects of your treatment immediately. The results of the non-surgical rhinoplasty usually last between six and eight months. However, based on your consultation, Dr. Schuster will discuss his anticipated timeline of recovery and results.
The ideal dermal filler for your non-surgical rhinoplasty may depend on several factors. The most important factor may be the area of the nose that will receive the treatment. Dr. Schuster is familiar with the characteristics of the various dermal filler families that are available today. The most common products used for non-surgical rhinoplasties include Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Radiesse®.
Juvederm and Restylane are soft tissue fillers that are made with particles of hyaluronic acid. Each product line manufactures its fillers using sophisticated cross-linking techniques that achieve just the right viscosity and structure for specific uses, such as disguising nasal bumps.
Radiesse is a soft tissue filler that is formulated with tiny particles of calcium hydroxyapatite. In addition to correcting bumps, this product can be introduced to the tip of the nose to enhance shape, symmetry, and size.
