Aging takes its toll on your face, body, and yes, your hands. Some say that all you need to do to really guess someone’s age is to look at their hands. Hands are exposed to the environment more than any other part of the body. Exposure to harsh chemicals, cleansers, and the effects of sunlight causes dryness, spots the loss of fat. As the fat goes away the hands look thinner, tendons and blood vessels become more visible. Treatment is aimed at either improving the appearance of the skin or increasing the volume beneath the skin. Light chemical peels are very successful in erasing or reducing the sunspots on the tops of the hands. Different fillers can be used to increase the volume. This includes Perlane, Juvederm, Sculptra and Fat. Treatment is relatively easy though sometimes there can be some swelling and bruising to deal with. Don’t let anyone guess your age from your hands when treatment is this easy. Here is a link from the New York Times which talks about it further.
