Do you feel that your brow is saggy and wrinkled? It may be hurting your self-confidence and creating a tired, haggard appearance. A brow lift performed by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ronald Schuster restores a refreshed, more youthful facial appearance. Dr. Schuster is a Baltimore brow lift expert and performs many of these procedures alone or in combination with other facial rejuvenation surgery, such as eyelid surgery and facelifts.
What to Expect during the Consultation
The first step in the process is to schedule a personalized consultation with Baltimore brow lift expert Dr. Schuster Together you will discuss your aesthetic goals and find out if you are a good candidate for the procedure. There are several different techniques that can be used for a browlift. R. Schuster will help you to understand the differences and choose the right procedure to meet your goals. The forehead and eyebrows are intimately related to your upper eyelids, so expect that Dr. Schuster will evaluate your eyelids as well. It is helpful to understand that upper eyelid works to get rid of the “clutter” and eyebrow lifts help to “open up” your eyes. Here are a few ways you can optimize your brow lift consultation time:
- Think of and write down all of the questions you have ahead of time
- Think about the areas of your face and the specific facial characteristics you want to change or enhance
- Think about what you are expecting from the final results (younger photos of you are always helpful)
- Gather medical records or otherwise be prepared to disclose medical conditions, allergies, health history, etc., so we can make sure the procedure is safe for you
Dr. Schuster first wants to listen to you as you tell him about your goals and concerns. Each patient is an individual with unique desires and a unique facial structure. He tailors his care and facial plastic surgery recommendations to enhance or correct your features.
What to Expect from the Surgery Day
Prior to surgery, Dr. Schuster’s team will make sure you are well prepared and know what to expect. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that does not pull over your head. Do not wear any facial cosmetics. Shower before surgery as instructed. Do not to eat or drink anything as of the time directed by the office beforehand. Set out your medications and prepare your bed before leaving the house. Dr. Schuster will complete the brow lift using the techniques previously chosen by you and him. A spouse, family member or friend chosen by you will bring you to the appointment, wait for you and then bring you home once cleared. Someone needs to stay around the house with you for at least the first 24-48 hours. You may experience some discomfort after surgery but the surgical team will make you are comfortable and that you go home with the proper medications and instructions. Usually you will have a mild to moderate headache for a day or two after surgery, once the numbing medicine wears off. Keep your head elevated and apply ice as instructed.
What to Expect from Recovery and Results
Results of brow lift surgery may include (depending on your situation):
- Lifting of a sagging brow
- Correction of heavy, hooded eyelids
- Correction of frown lines between the eyebrows
- Softening of horizontal forehead wrinkles
Results of brow lift surgery are lasting. This procedure turns back the clock on the signs of aging and can easily be combined with other facial rejuvenation for a complete look. It will take roughly three months to see the final results. Bruising lasts for about seven days after your procedure, and most of the swelling will go down within two weeks. You should be happy with your results at two weeks, and they’ll only get better in the months following.
