Timing is everything, as the saying goes. If you have gynecomastia, the right time for male breast reduction may hinge on your schedule, financial preparedness, and emotional readiness to undergo surgery. All that being said, seizing this moment in 2022 may be the perfect time for gynecomastia surgery.
There’s No Time Like the Present
With the spring equinox behind us and summer right around the corner, now is a great time to get male breast reduction. Summer provides an ideal opportunity for surgical recovery:
- If you have kids, they may be away at summer programs or otherwise enjoying time off from school so you can focus on your recovery without worrying about getting them to and from school, helping with schoolwork, preparing lunches, etc.
- Have your reshaped chest ready to show off in the summertime. After three to four weeks of healing, you should feel confident strolling the beach or enjoying the swimming pool without a shirt on.
- Eat right. Healthy fruits and vegetables are at their peak over the summer. Your body will benefit from fiber, minerals, and vitamins as it heals after surgery, and summertime produce is a great way to get the fuel your body needs.
- Rest up in the warm, comfortable temperatures of summer days. Instead of feeling like you have to get the chill off while recovering, you can easily sit back and relax while the summer temps wash over you.
Most people take a few days to a week off from work, depending on the physical exertion involved with their jobs. You will wear a compression garment for three weeks to reduce swelling and support the skin as it shrinks to fit the firmer, flatter chest contour. This garment will be hidden under your clothes. You will see the beginning of good results after a few weeks, and they will only get better over the following three to four months.
